Were you ever in a situation where you needed help lifting something?  Calling for help to lift something heavy can save your back and sustain your body.  When we find something heavy that needs to be moved, we often look for the strongest men or equipment to move it.  Recognizing the fact that we need help can be humbling, but the benefits of getting help far outweigh our pride.  God is our Strong Man in spiritual lifting.  Our foolish pride often gets in the way of asking for His help and can lead to spiritual injury.  Being familiar with how much God can and will carry for us will help us call on Him every time we have a need.

Calling on our heavenly Father through the name of Jesus is the highest power on which we can call. By calling on His name, all of our sins are taken away forever because of His sacrifice.  We instantly have access to the Creator of everything. God stands undefeated in the battle of good and evil when war breaks out.  “There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.” (Ps. 76:4)   We claim the high ground when we ask Him to fight our battles for us. (Ps. 76:4) “Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.” God has such a strong advantage over our enemies that He can take away their strength at critical moments. (Ps. 76:5) “The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.”
The example of mighty man losing strength reminds me of the war in Ukraine when a Russian convoy ran out of fuel.  Another example is when Erwin Rommel (a German general during WWII called the “Desert Fox”) ran out of much needed supplies, including gas for his tanks.  This inevitably led to the turning point of the war in North Africa in favor of the Allies.  One of Rommel’s famous quotes was, “When there’s no clear option, it’s better to do nothing.” I would strongly disagree with this thinking. We need to pray when in doubt of anything we face. As brilliant as the “Desert Fox” was in strategy and tactics (that are still used today), he was still foiled by God’s intervention. God will intervene in our favor if we ask Him because we are His children.  Jesus is our strong man who is able to bind Satan and his demons with the finger of God. (Luke 11:20)

As we encounter the burdens of life, let us shift our perspective toward God’s will being done on earth as it is in Heaven. (Luke 11:2) This perspective comes when we humble ourselves and allow God to work for us as we lean on His everlasting arms. Ask God for His power through the Holy Spirit. He will insure victory. (Luke 11:9) (James 1:5, 4:2-3)  “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
