Recently my family and I took a little road trip to Bass Pro Shop in Harrisburg. While we were there getting ready to head toward the checkout, we noticed one of our three children were missing. It was our youngest, Genevieve. Talk about panic! I could see the concern all over my wife’s face. Our daughter was there one second and then just like that she was MIA. As we started looking around and calling out her name, our oldest boy looked in the coat rack next to us and there stood a two-year-old little girl with a big smile on her face because she’s a good hider.

That being said when you lose something vitally important, you search and search until you found what was lost. You don’t just look for a minute or two and say, “oh well, maybe will come back later.” When you lose something precious to you, you look with your whole heart. As is the way that we should be continually seeking God.

Four times in Amos 5 we find the word seek, in versus 4,6,8 and 14.  How many of us fail to seek God on a daily basis?  We are to seek Him always in all we do. Whether it’s a sporting event, getting together over a fire, hunting or fishing, or wherever we are. We are to “seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

I know all of us have someone we know in our lives that hasn’t sought God. Are we first seeking God, and telling that lost person about what it is that they haven’t found? How do they know they’re missing salvation if they don’t know who or how to seek God? It starts with us. All we have to do is plant the seed. God will allow them to seek.

“Of course God does not consider you hopeless. If He did He would not be moving you to seek Him (and He obviously is). What is going on in you at present is simply the beginning of the treatment. Continue seeking with cheerful seriousness. Unless He wanted you, you would not be wanting Him.”

C. S. Lewis
