Why is it that the grass is always greener on the other side? Contentment, I feel like for much of the world, is long gone. Everyone’s seeking the latest and greatest iPhone that just came out, or looking for that golden stay at home job where you only have to work 20 hours a week and make $60,000 a year.

The richest of the rich are seeking that golden opportunity in looking for immortality. They’re constantly investing millions into science to find a way to become immortal. They look for that one thing that they don’t think has happened yet. They fear death and spend millions looking for the cure, when in fact it was found over 2,000 years ago when Jesus defeated sin for us.

Zephaniah 1:18 says “Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath.” No amount of earthly possessions will gain you everlasting life. Being given immortality is a free gift from God. If you’ve been born again you already have the greenest yard or pasture you could ever possibly have. There’s no need to jump the fence onto the other side unless you haven’t sought righteousness. Zephaniah 2:3 “Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord’s anger.” (you can also look at Matthew 6:33)

Seeking righteousness is something, as believers, we will never finish doing. There’s always and area or areas where we need to repent and be more like Christ. To look for righteousness, just go through the 10 commandments and you’ll find that there is plenty of seeking to be done.
